靖國神社 遊就館内 特設展示場にて開催決定

ごあいさつ

作者である小林喜一氏は、大東亜戦争中のグアム戦で次々と亡くなっていく戦友たちの

「この戦いのことを家族に伝えてほしい」という思いを描いてくださいました。

19歳から21歳の青年期の記憶を元に描かれた200枚以上の絵は、

小林氏の戦友だけでなく戦争で命を落とした全ての方々へ捧げるものであり、

次世代への遺産だという思いで、グアム戦遺族の集まりで

作品集の編集にあたり平成30年4月に発行いたしました。

この本の反響が大きく、原画を見たいという声もいただき、この度の開催となりました。

　「靖國で会おう」と励ましあいながらの戦いの日々の記録を、靖國神社でご覧いただく運びとなりました。

英霊のみたまが安まることを願い、平和への祈りを込めて展示いたします。

Preface

The author, Mr. Kiichi Kobayashi, drew pictures to pass on the pleas of fallen comrades

to tell their families and loved ones of the battles they fought in Guam during the Second World War.

Surviving family members from the Battle of Guam felt the more-than-200 pictures

drawn by Kobayashi based on his memories as a young man from 19 to 21 of age

were not only for his comrades but also as a tribute to all lives lost in war.

With hope to bequeath them to the next generation,

we compiled the pictures and published a book in April 2018.

The book was met with overwhelming response along with wishes

to see the original drawings,which has brought us to this exhibition.

 These drawings depicting the days of combat now line the walls of Yasukuni Shrine,

the place where soldiers swore to each other they would rejoin upon their deaths in battle.

We send you this exhibition with hope to comfort the souls

of fallen soldiers and a prayer for peace.
